Finally in Ann Arbor

We had quite the adventure moving across country to our new home in Ann Arbor.  This has probably been one of the busiest and most stressful weeks of my life, but I am happy to say that most of it is over.  (well we are still homeless, which is a stress, but we are hoping that we can move in to the new apartment very soon)

It is always hard to move, but quite a bit more so if you have to fit everything that you own into two small cars! As most of you know, we sold all of our furniture and gave away a ton of things (major purge of old clothes and household items).  I was also working all day during the last week so moving and selling items from KSL postings only happened post 5 p.m. To top it all off, I got sick the day we moved out and just now starting to recover.  Being pregnant and sick is the worst! We also were pretty stressed about the situation with the landlord, so we took tons of pictures and videos of the apartment before leaving and took care to make sure it was as clean as when we got there. We officially moved out August 15th and then went to stay at Brody's dad's and then his mom's for a night.

We began our road trip early Saturday morning (after my last day of work on Friday, where my sweet coworkers threw me a great potluck and got me and the baby lots of gifts...I will definitely miss those people) We drove to Kearney, NE the first day- about 11 hrs and stayed in a hotel for the night.  It is definitely way harder to drive all day, when I have to do it all by myself and when I am sick and pregnant.  I'm pretty sure we won't be doing any more cross country road trips ever again!

The second day wasn't as bad and we stayed in Chicago with Jessie, Dustin and Clara.  It was fun to see them and their new place.  Definitely made the trip more enjoyable. We ended up staying in Chicago on Monday- we visited Lake Michigan and Northwestern's campus.  We also lounged around Jessie's cute apartment and explored her neighborhood.  Tuesday, Brody had an interview downtown, so we got to ride the L (which was an experience) and walked around a bit and did some shopping.  We left for Ann Arbor later that afternoon.

We finally pulled in to Ann Arbor late Tuesday.  Some people that we had met here before (Curt and Carmen) were nice enough to let us crash at their place for a few days until we found something a bit more permanent.  We went out Wednesday morning looking for apartments.  This process proved to be much harder than expected and we barely found a place (since almost everywhere was completely booked).  The problem is...they didn't have the apartment ready and they told us they wouldn't let us move in until Monday or Tuesday (Aug 27 or 28).  We were starting to feel bad for staying at our friends' house for too long so we decided to check into a hotel on Saturday, praying to be allowed to move in by Tuesday.  Well of course we could not be so lucky- they let us know today that we won't be able to move in until Thursday now.  I'm trying to be as positive as possible about this whole "living in limbo" thing, but we all know, I don't handle stress very well.

So since plans have changed, we will be leaving tomorrow and driving to Pittsburgh to stay with my sister and see friends and family.  We'll come back Friday probably and finally move in...at least let's hope!!!

I have a doctor's appointment (with my new doctor) tomorrow and Brody has another interview..then we will be off to PA for a few days.  At least we'll be able to see family and friends during this whole ordeal!
