We went shooting with my mom...unbelievable, I know!

Brody had the fantastic idea to go shooting and invite my parents since they are visiting. He thought my dad would enjoy it, but he really just wanted to get my mom to shoot. Before going my mom put up quite the fuss about it. She didn't want anything to do with shooting. I told her that she could just sit in the car and not shoot anything and just watch, just like I do.

But it turned out quite differently than I expected. I shot two bullets and my mom shot about every gun that was brought (Paul and Jason came along as well). It was quite humorous to watch and I didnt get any better pictures bc I was on the phone for half of the shooting adventure. At least it was sunny so I got to enjoy that part of it!

The only one I got of my mom, Paul is helping her aim at the bad guy.

Blast from the Past

Brody's mom is telling us that she is really moving to Oregon! We are excited for her because she will be living her dream. The consequences of moving are that you want to get rid of old stuff. Last week she decided to bring over multiple boxes of Brody's old stuff. Other family was visiting so they all decended on our tiny apartment for a dessert party.

I made these amazing lemon bars, but I cut myself horribly and made a huge mess of the kitchen. I never can make anything for company without some serious mishap or another. I guess my dreams of becoming a domestic goddess are still far away.

The party was fun. We mostly sat around looking at Brody's old pictures from high school dances and from his scrapbooks. He was one cute and fat baby!

The boxes just so happened to have Brody's old letterman jacket. He lettered in many things including football, track, math and science. I laughed hysterically when he told me he lettered in math and science. Who does that? haha I am going to wear the jacket to all the Bigham football games that Brody drags me to.

All the poor people crammed into our small house.Cute cousin Jack who can use a cell phone better than me!

Garden Update

The plants have been taking off. I decided to take a couple of pictures to document their success. Every plant is doing well except for my watermellon. Of course the one plant that I actually wanted is not growing. I do not blame it. I can't help that La Nina has ruined our spring and early summer. I guess watermellons do not thrive in the cold.

Mini!!!!

Brody and I had quite a stressful couple of weeks trying to take care of my car situation. We have been thinking of selling Fredrick the Focus and getting a different car for quite awhile. My registration needed to be renewed at the end of May so about mid May we got the car selling/buying process into high gear. It was pretty stressful trying to sell the car and find a new suitable one that I actually liked and that was in my budget. I had dreamed of owning a mini cooper for years now, but I tried to be realistic because they are so expensive. So when we started looking for cars I focused on others makes and models, but kept an eye open for a deal on a mini cooper if at all possible. Actually, Brody did most of the car hunting. He did an amazing job and eventually found my new car. (well new to me) He worked hard to find me a great deal and then negotiated a great price in the end. I was thrilled to drive off the lot in my fabulous mini cooper!!! I absolutely LOVE it. I would have liked another color, but I still love it, even in silver.

So I said goodbye to this...

and now am thrilled and oh so happy to drive THIS ----

Summer Came for a Weekend...

We finally had a nice hot weekend. (Well Saturday and Sunday were beautiful!) Pam is in town for her old roommate Kathryn's wedding. She is also helping her other old friend Mindy prepare for her wedding that will take place later this summer. Pam had a bachelorette brunch for Mindy on Saturday and I came along for fun. I got a yummy honey bran muffin and Pam had me pose.

Something weird was happening with my bangs that morning. I was too lazy to dry my hair because I knew I would be going on a monstrous walk later that afternoon so it was no use.

After brunch Pam and I started out on our journey. Pam and I had been planning a long walk for awhile. I decided to start out at Sugar House Park and just walk from there. Pam got this idea to walk up to a huge house on the hill. It was the highest house-thus the highest you could walk on the roads. We walked 6 miles in 2.5 hours, burned over 700 calories and walked over 10,000 steps. It was quite the walk for sure. It was fun though and we both finally got some sun. Pam even got a little burnt on her shoulders.

After walking all day we relaxed and then went to dinner. We ate some delicious Mexican food at Blue Iguana. (the only Mexican food that I like in Utah)

It was enjoyable, but tiring day :)

Sunday, Brody's mom had a Birthday/Graduation Party for Cache, Sage and McKenna. Cache turned 11 and seemed very grown up. We had a lot fun outside enjoying the sunshine and good food. I made a jello salad and surprisingly everyone loved it.

Will Summer Every Come?

Even though the weather has been horribly depressing, cold and rainy, we have tried to keep busy and pretend like its nice anyway. Brody has been obsessed with the idea of planting a garden for two years now. We finally got our act together this past weekend and got our planter box built and planted with veggies. This year we are growing 4 varieties of heirloom tomatoes (Brody's idea), onions, spaghetti squash, peppers and watermelon (my idea). We will see how well they do. Sadly, the day after they were planted we woke up with frost on the ground!! (We also had to turn on the heat in our house because it was so freaking cold) I don't know what I did to deserve such a miserable winter and spring. I pray that good weather will someday come.

Here is proud Brody with his garden. Hopefully I'll be good about taking pictures throughout the summer so I can keep track of the progress.

I had to pose by it too, even though I did virtually nothing to help- except provide moral support

Also, in other pursuits, I have been couponing as of late. I have gotten some pretty amazing deals and have enough shower gel, toothpaste and other necessities to last us a long time. Most of my finds were free or less than a dollar. We figure we are saving a bunch of money and well it's kinda addicting when you walk out of the store with $30 worth of stuff for $3. Brody also enjoys it is an excuse to spend some more quality time together.

Here I am with most of my finds since I began couponing about a month ago (minus the food items I have gotten which we've mostly eaten by now)
