Mustache March

Even though it's well into April, I am blogging about last month's atrocity. Brody decided to grow a beard for full-beard February and then shave his beard into a mustache. (He kept it for a day not a whole month) I think he looks like a felon or some other choice criminal. I thought it was pretty funny and that I had to document this.

His mug shot.

Devestation

So I am wasting my life away since it's my last week before I enter the big world of grad school and will probably have no more free time. I decided to get caught up on all my old shows. So against my better judgment, I was convinced that I must watch that last few episodes of the Hills. I have wasted the last 4 years of my life watching Laguna Beach and the Hills (I took a break last year bc I couldn't handle the ridiculousness of the show anymore) But this season I have been intrigued by the fact that Brody and Kristin were kinda a couple so I just had to watch I guess.

Well much to my disbelief they devastated me if their final episode! It's not real! I mean I always knew there was no way that all that drama and meeting up for serious talks at cutesy cafes could not possibly be real, but I wanted to believe that at least some of the story lines were partly true. Take for example, Brody and Kristin. Now I must believe that Brody and I do not have a celebrity couple like us!! (To make matters worse they all went to Costa Rica and stayed in the exact town that we did on our honeymoon...oh the similarities) And even if the drama was all scripted while they were there, I do know that they were actually in Santa Teresa bc I recognized the streets and restaurants.

So that is my desperate rambling for the day! I am sad that Brody and Kristin were completely fake. I guess I'll have to move on with my real life with the real Brody. Definitely not as glamorous :(

All I did was eat...

I spent Memorial Day weekend eating. I guess that's what you do on all holidays, but it kinda threw me off of my once-a-week cheat diet. I did take some pictures to document my eating fun.

I was horribly depressed that it was a cold weekend with no sun and we couldn't go out of town so I drowned out my sorrows with food. K I didn't eat that much.

My humongous ice cream that i love! (I didn't finish it for the record)

yumm...

On Sunday, our fabulous friend Peng had us over for a bbq. He cooked enough food to feed an army, unfortunately there were about 8 people there. I did learn to make authentic Cambodian egg rolls and got to try lots of spicy food and good company!

Peng cooking!

The whole group!

with Brody and one of his many hideous shirts! (don't ask)

And I didn't take any pictures on Monday from the actual Memorial Day picnic. :(

10 months!

I missed our anniversary again! When we got married, I wanted to celebrate every month that we have been married, but Brody did not like that idea. I always think- "i'm going to celebrate anyway-even if my husband is unromantic and hates celebrating our marriage" But somehow I always forget. I missed our 10 monther yesterday :(

We did have a fun Memorial Day picnic (so I guess I was celebrating without knowing) I do have some pictures of our weekend...but none of our picnic.

Brody promises to celebrate our year anniversary in July! Can't believe it has been that long!
Here's to 10 months!

Cooking Fiascos

Monday night I decided to participate in our work challenges for National Volunteer Week. You all should participate (not only will it build my work Facebook page) but you will be helping others and feeling good at the same time :) There is my shameless plug for service.

Our service challenge on Monday was to serve as a family. So for Family Home Evening, I told Brody that we were baking cookies and delivering them. Well he watched and didn't help but he is good moral support.

So, now to the real meat of the story. I had wanted to make these cookies for a couple of days. While grocery shopping on Saturday I bought the extra ingredients that I don't have laying around the house (orange juice and oranges for orange rinds) Mind you, I had read the recipe before going grocery shopping and wrote down the necessary ingredients.

Well Sunday night I thought "I should make those cookies." But I get out the recipe, read it again and realize that I don't have any butter. So since it was Sunday, I decided to put off baking them till Monday (which worked out for my service challenge)

Well Monday night I told Brody I had to go to the store and buy butter. We walked to the local market one block over cause I was too lazy to go to the busy grocery store. We purchased our butter and then went home to begin baking.

Well I get out the recipe and read it for the THIRD time and see, oh wait, I don't have powdered sugar either. How is it possible that I had read the recipe 3 separate times and had, every time, missed a necessary ingredient. I was soo frustrated by this time that I decided to just make these cookies. While they are delicious, I still was disappointed.

So, I have a reading problem. Dislexia...I don't know, I need to be diagnosed with something, because this is not the 1st or 2nd time I've done this. Actually, I probably do it every week. I always pick recipes and go grocery shopping for dinner items and it never fails that I forget multiple key ingredients and end up back at the store with Brody laughing. It doesn't matter how many times I read these darn recipes, I still manage to forget things!

Well, this is my very long story of my strange faults. Happy Hump Day!

All I think about...

Some days, It seems that all I think about are clothes. Sadly, I should be thinking of Brody and how I can help my lovely husband, but I don't I dream about fabrics, high heels and rhinestoned accessories. Sad I know.

So, to the request of some workmates (Elizabeth) I decided to post the newest thing I covet.

It is a bit out of my newlymarried, non profit working budget, but a girl can dream, right?

Meanwhile, I am accepting donations to Kristin's poor fund.

Have no fears (mother, who I'm sure doesn't read my blog. If a girl's mother doesn't read her blog then seriously who does? anyway) I fully intend on wearing this cute dress with a cardigan and any other modest-making layers. I also saw this on the model at Anthropologie and it looked long enough! I would love to wear it with the cute cardi and belt also shown.

On a happier note, I am way excited for Valentine's Day. Two years ago Brody and I met on this fateful day, so I am all geared up to celebrate. I would post my surprises because I'm so dang excited but I fear that Brody may on the off chance decide to read my blog and find out (im almost 100% positive he won't bc let's face it, my husband doesn't read my blog either)

What are you doing for your husbands or significant others? I could use details and pictures. I sometimes live vicariously through my friends' romantic husbands and boyfriends.

Time is flying by...

Yesterday I was inspired to start updating my blog. So I'm going to promise publicly that I will start embracing blogging. I do it at work all the time, I might as well enjoy it in my free time as well. So since I haven't been doing very well posting, I will summarize the last two months with random pictures and a brief write up about what has been happening in the exciting lives of Brody and Kristin.
The last two months have literally flown by. The days have been filled with work, studying and working on potential grad applications for me, and for Brody about the same minus grad school. I have also been trying to master the many skills that would qualify me to be a domestic goddess. I am making some improvements in the art of cooking but am far from finding success in the world of cleaning and decorating (ahh just not enough time or money) someday...
I spend a lot time cooking (compared to what I did as a single girl) Brody not so much so I decided to document the first and probably the last time he chose to enter the kitchen to do something other than eat :) Don't worry, I still love him
.
Proof that he was doing the work!

Our scrumptious meal of vegetable tempura served on his Asian dish set

We have also had tons of time to play with friends. Brody's long lost best friend from high school suddenly reappeared at our reception with his amazing girlfriend. They have become some of my favorite people. Peng is hilarious and Rachel is so sweet. We have had fun trying all types of food with them (Peng has a very developed palate) and recently we attended a Jazz game together.

Trying to look good after Peng made me run the whole way to the stadium in 4" heels

Rachel is the best!

I promise that my next posts will be more organized and less disjointed! I look forward to keeping this updated!
