More Winter Activities..

Brody thinks I'm strange for liking the sport of hockey, but I do. Maybe it's because my older brother, David was a bit obsessed with the Pittsburgh Penquins when I was little. I still remember his Jaromir Jagar and Mario Lemieux poster. I even wanted to play hockey. My mom definitely did not like that idea.

So years later, I still insist on attending hockey games. Luckily our good friend, Peng, is obessed with any sporting event (or so it seems) and they were going to a game last weekend. I jumped on the chance to drag Brody along. We had great fun! It had been forever since we've seen some of our favorite people, Peng and Rachel!

Rachel and Peng are all good and actually dress for sporting events.

I, on the other hand, attempt to look cute (my hair is still to short to curl in my opinion, I dont' know why I try)

Oh and the Grizzlies won! Goo Utah! They championed over the lowly Salmon Kings from Canada!

Zombies and Valentines

As I wrote before, I was soo excited for this weekend. I was determined to document it well, but that didn't exactly happen. We took more pictures, but they didn't turn out so well. I decided that I should spare my viewers eyes from our less than perfect photogenic moments.

We decided to celebrate Valentine's Day on Saturday, since we wanted to go to dinner and such (which wouldn't be possible on the real Vday since it landed on Sunday this year)

That morning I had to run a bunch of miles (I am preparing to run a half marathon. I'll have to blog about that later) so I was gone for quite awhile. When I left Brody was asleep, but when I got back Brody surprised me with a clean house! That was a fantastic present to start the day.

After that we journeyed to his Dad's house. Brenda had gotten us a little Vday present cause she's sweet like that! Thanks Brenda :)

At Brenda's and Paul before heading to Salt Lake for Valentine's Day dinner and movie

Brody and I also exchanged presents. I was going to spend more money on him, but he gave me a budget :( This was the gift that I was sooo excited to give him. He has been asking me for this zombie book for as long as I can remember. Recently a movie was made about zombies and a quest for a yellow spongy log of cake filled with creame (a twinkie). So to compliment the zombie book I purchased him some yummy twinkies.

The special book and treat. I am married to a strange man, I know.

Brody sweetly purchased me a headband from Anthropolie and took me to dinner at a Greek restaurant in Salt Lake (Aristos) and to the movie Valentine's Day. Which was pretty cute.

Hope you all had great Valentine's Days and Presidents Day. I certainly enjoyed my weekend.

Success at work!

I was so excited about this I figured I blog about it... Sorry I guess I just have a lot going on right now.

I work for United Way of Utah County, as many of you know. I work on their social media and as part of that I have been trying to get more visits to our blog. I recently emailed a popular, local blogger about one of United Way's programs and she blogged about it yesterday! Yay!

Check it out here please!

Winter of Weddings Continued...

Brody's old roommate and one of my old favorite crew (we aren't as cohesive as we once were) got married last week. His fiance (Sharsti) is quite nice and has assimilated into our friend group very well. We don't all hang out enough :( It was fun to have most of us together for the reception (except for Eric and Jillian who were so luckily in Costa Rica)

The beaming couple: Josh and Sharsti
Our good friend James: He was happy to be off wedding DJ duty. Surprisingly there was no DJ at the reception, but I'm sure James would have done an awesome job if he was given the assignment.

The reception was quite pretty with lots of purple (a personal favorite) and lots of cake (sadly I couldn't eat it cause I was religiously following my one-day-a-week-cheat diet) I kinda fell off the wagon over Valentine's Day weekend....but ya know. I did did stay away from cake that night! (Applause for me)

All I think about...

Some days, It seems that all I think about are clothes. Sadly, I should be thinking of Brody and how I can help my lovely husband, but I don't I dream about fabrics, high heels and rhinestoned accessories. Sad I know.

So, to the request of some workmates (Elizabeth) I decided to post the newest thing I covet.

It is a bit out of my newlymarried, non profit working budget, but a girl can dream, right?

Meanwhile, I am accepting donations to Kristin's poor fund.

Have no fears (mother, who I'm sure doesn't read my blog. If a girl's mother doesn't read her blog then seriously who does? anyway) I fully intend on wearing this cute dress with a cardigan and any other modest-making layers. I also saw this on the model at Anthropologie and it looked long enough! I would love to wear it with the cute cardi and belt also shown.

On a happier note, I am way excited for Valentine's Day. Two years ago Brody and I met on this fateful day, so I am all geared up to celebrate. I would post my surprises because I'm so dang excited but I fear that Brody may on the off chance decide to read my blog and find out (im almost 100% positive he won't bc let's face it, my husband doesn't read my blog either)

What are you doing for your husbands or significant others? I could use details and pictures. I sometimes live vicariously through my friends' romantic husbands and boyfriends.

The Winter of Weddings

So everyone we know decided to get married this winter and some decided to get married again (well kinda). The influx of our friends are getting married this month, mostly around Valentine's Day weekend, but we did attend my friend Raquel's (from work) reception in Jan and then Brody's parents decided to be sealed in the Oquirrah Mountain temple this past Saturday. This was such an amazing experience and I am incredibly happy for them! I got to be with Brenda inside the temple. It wasn't very long ago that the roles were reversed (actually almost exactly 6 months to the day) I was much less nervous this time around and it seemed that everything went quicker and smoother than it had on my wedding day, but then again maybe that's because I was on the verge of a mental breakdown brought on by the horrible weather outside and the lack of wedding guests (who were all stuck in horrible traffic). Brenda and Paul's sealing went off with a hitch and it was a beautiful ceremony.
I wore my new dress for the ocassion. It will look a bit different than the picture I posted in my earlier post. When I got it in the mail, I was thoroughly confused. It was not white with black poka dots, it was the other way around. Sadly, I did not realize that I chose the other color combination when I ordered it. Oh well it is still a cute dress (well i can let you judge) and it was cheap.
We took some pictures outside the temple (but just a few because it is a wind tunnel up there and well it is winter) Brody and I at Raquel's reception

Brenda and Paul (Brenda in her way cute white dress)

What we've been up to...

More and more skiing. Oh how skiing makes winter a better season. If skis did not exist I do not think I could survive the eternal, frigid and dark season. I am waiting for the day the the sun will stay up longer, right now the sun is setting around 5:45 p.m. and I'm anxiously awaiting the 6 p.m. sun set that will be upcoming this month.
Brody and I have loving our new skiis (well at least I love mine, Brody complains that his are not as new and hip as he'd like) I decided to take a picture of them to show them to the world. They are my loves :) Brody also has a super old snowboard that he uses occasionally when he doesn't want to ski! Mine are all cool and ninja like with their Chinese looking snake design.

We frequent night skiing at Sundance. We've had good and bad snow, its been a hit or miss. But the highlight of my winter was one Friday night. We drove up during the beginnings of a snow storm. (we were getting much needed snow) And did it snow...Brody and I were covered from head to toe with snowflakes by the end of the night! We had sooo much fun. There was so much powder and even better, no one was on the mountain. We had all the great snow to ourselves! Last weekend we went skiing again and I started jumping. I'm so proud of myself that I am no longer too scared to jump on my skiis. Granted these are big jumps, but they are jumps none the less!

Brody is so happy/scary before skiing
