Summer in Utah

Wow--I am so slow in updating.  Well after our crazy move from Ann Arbor, we flew out to Utah to spend the whole summer with Brody's family.  Our lease was up in Michigan and we didn't want to pay to live in California before Brody officially started work.  So we are taking advantage of all the free babysitting and free room and board!  It has been really busy, but we've enjoyed our time in scorching hot Utah!

Since I am now finishing this blog post while I sit in San Francisco, I will just do a quick recap of our summer.

It was 10 long weeks (I was so happy to have my own space again), but I am incredibly grateful for all the free babysitting, countless meals and kind words from my in-laws.  I know we aren't always the best house quests, so I'm glad we have family that helps out.  Needless to say, the summer exhausted me.  We lived out of suitcase for months and switched back and forth between Brody's dad's house and then his mom's house many, many times.  I also got to go back to work two days a week.  I absolutely loved it!! And I hope to return to work part-time, someday....

Highlights:

Seeing so many fun friends!! I don't really have any pictures of all these great hang outs, but trust me, we were very social.  And we were able to visit fun places as well.
Madeleine with Eric and Jillian's baby, Maya

Aquarium--she was in love!
Tracy Bird Aviary

Lake Powell trip (which was much harder than expected with baby) She is not a fan of staying up late, sleeping outside or life jackets, but she definitely LOVED playing in the campground and on the boat.

Splash pads and sunshine!! We missed the sun while in Michigan, so we soaked it up in Utah.

Spending some time with Brody (he wasn't home much, but at least we got to see him more than usual)

Eating tons of good food

Woffinden Family Reunion in Tennessee-- we spent about a week in Tennessee, first visiting Brody's aunt and then meeting my whole family in Gatlinburg, where we stayed in a huge cabin all together.  We hiked, enjoyed the scenery, visited all the hooky tourist attractions and enjoyed family time.  Madeleine loved being touted around by all her older cousins.  She loved the attention.

Oh and we got a new car!  A more family friendly car, a Kia Sorento.  It's white, newer and has a few bells and whistles.  I'm pretty happy.  Though I'm not driving it at all in San Fran.
