Cafe Madrid Celebration!

Last week I received am amazing surprise. Many months ago I applied for scholarship. When I was an undergrad, it was really simple, if you had a specific gpa or higher you received a scholarship. And you always knew, because I knew what the gpa cutoff was. Well, in grad school i guess you have to actually work for your scholarship, like everything else. I had to fill out a long application and write an essay. I remember being super stressed turning it in becasue I didn't think I had a chance to get a scholarship and I was doing it all last minute (I didn't realize I'd have to write multiple essays) So anyway a couple of weeks ago I got a rejection notice saying that I didn't get a scholarship! I was all mad, blaming my stats teacher for pulling down my gpa, but I moved on. To my delight, I found out just last week that I had applied to more than one scholarship and that eventhough I did not receive the first scholarship, they would be awarding me the second one!!! I was soo thrilled. All that stress and sleepless nights and worrying over grades really did pay off and in a big way!!
Brody was also thrilled for me so we dressed up and he took me to dinner at Cafe Madrid, an authentic Spanish restuarant just down the street.
I've been wanting to try it for years (since jessie and dustin went there forever ago). We have procrastinating because it is so expensive, but Brody thought the scholarship was reason enough to splurge and celebrate. Eventhough the name of the restaurant is Cafe Madrid, it has food from all over Spain. We ate paella, not from Madrid at all. It was delicous though. We also got a plate of meats and cheese. I used to hate chorizo in Spain because my 'madre' put it on everything and I don't think it was that fine of quality, but wow how I love good quality chorizo and manchego cheese. yummm We also go to eat some delicous baquette! (probably the main reason I gained 10 pounds while in spain)
